Web Summit 2015's Best Marketing Startups

Posted in Top tips, Tools & Advice, Startups,

Web Summit 2015 is over and we’ve almost recovered from the four nights and three days of non-stop networking, pitching, and inspiration from some brilliant startups set to change our lives and businesses for the better.

Coffee by day, G&T by night (with a few Guinness thrown in of course).

Despite all of our preparation; reviewing advice from Paddy Cosgrave, getting our pitch deck ready, and collecting top tips for Web Summit from past attendees; it was still a whirlwind.

We managed to get to the Marketing Summit for some impressive and occasionally shocking talks about the future of marketing. Some of the best marketing quotes included Nicola Mendelsohn, VP EMEA of Facebook, explaining that we're now consuming 7 hours of content in 5 hours due to multiscreen consumption. And Norm Johnston Global leader of Mindshare reporting that 60% of people are willing to exchange their biometric data with companies in return for lower prices.

With so much happening at once, it was impossible to see everything or meet everyone you wanted to at Web Summit, so we have included some of the best new marketing advancements that we came across.

It was also great to meet other tech businesses who have started to use The Work Crowd, to support their Marketing and PR strategy. Thank you for all the positive feedback about the platform and our great freelancer experts who are helping businesses maximise their potential and gain the most from Web Summit.

Best Marketing Startups

Marketers, there were so many startups at Web Summit this year focussed on making your life easier. Here are some of our favourites:

Thuzio, co-founded by former NFL legend Tiki Barber, is a startup that uses data science to match celebrities with major brands and institutions – brilliant for marketing campaigns.

ZAAPT! is the new hootsuite. Providing ‘social super powers’ for marketing and social media teams.

Rebrandly enables you to brand your links to drive click-through rates (up to 45%). Get your first link free here by entering the code LHPCSN (limited offer).

Splento provides affordable and professional photography, on-demand, delivered within two days. (The Work Crowd’s Alice Weightman gave Splento a go - pic above!)

isCompliant is a business management platform that helps you monitor what you need to work on and when, arrange meetings, and monitor project progress (subscription required).

Emarsys cloud marketing software predicts, personalises and automates the customer journey, helping you to convert customers more often and effectively.

Pay With a Tweet is another good one. It’s a software solution for referral marketing campaigns, turning users into brand ambassadors.

9Sharp good for everyone –a virtual CV for yourself and your business; combining all your digital information in one place.

Station, a social mobile broadcast platform for generating and distributing photos, videos, audio and live streaming. Also if you’re working on more interactive content, try Worm App. It’s like Instagram for Slow Motion video, or Kabang App, Instagram for voice recordings.
