Driving business’ growth through digital marketing: Minesh’s story

This month we spoke with Minesh, a B2B and B2C digital marketing consultant who started off in recruitment but crossed over into marketing over 15 years ago. Four years ago he then made the decision to take the plunge and pursue his freelancing dream. 

Now he’s successfully running his freelance business and he’s using his expertise and skills to support small businesses, startups, and corporates with their marketing.  His working experience ranges from digital marketing to paid search marketing campaigns, SEO, display, email, social media and events. 

Minesh shared with us a few insights regarding his career journey, his greatest accomplishments and some words of advice for his fellow freelancers. 

You have been freelancing since 2015. What made you make the switch from permanent work to freelance?

I always had aspirations to set up a business where I could offer a range of marketing services. I am currently running my own independent marketing agency, supporting clients on a freelance basis as well as providing interim support and flexible consulting services, depending on their needs.

You developed marketing campaigns and strategies for your clients,  with a focus on digital. What’s your most significant achievement so far?

I have worked with Hays, a leading global professional recruiting group, for a number of years, helping them with digital transformation and reaching new target markets. I have supported them to develop a footprint in new markets and generate new business wins by establishing strategic partnerships and by creating a content plan to engage more successfully with the client and candidate community

I also have been working with a dental practice based in central London for 7 years. We have implemented a digital marketing strategy with a focus on lead generation. This has seen a consistent 50+ new monthly inquiries, which has enabled them to expand their practice.

You are currently working with a client through The Work Crowd. Can you share any insights on the aims of this campaign and how you are tackling them?

The client was looking for regular content to be created to help them better engage with prospect customers.  I have been creating 2 regular monthly blogs to optimise their website, but also to provide engaging content for the company to promote via email and social to existing and prospect customers.  

What are the three words that best describe you as a marketer?

Hybrid, as I have experience working with all marketing channels and therefore am well equipped to support any company looking to grow their business. 

I am a collaborative marketer as I work closely with clients so that I am working in partnership with them and their team.

Finally, commercial:  I support clients to grow their business so my marketing solutions are focused on commercial activity.

What words of advice would you give to our network?

I would advise them to dedicate more time to develop relationships with key partners where they can mutually benefit from the relationships and open doors for each other with suppliers, clients, and system providers. I would also suggest them to spend more time focusing on their business development, to have a sales pipeline that they are constantly nurturing and to give themselves the best chance of finding new clients.
