The Work Crowd is based within the United Kingdom, and as such is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a Data Controller under the UK Data Protection Act of 1998. We have also aligned our Privacy Policy with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) which comes into effect on 25th May 2018, under the supervision of the ICO within the UK.

The Work Crowd has completed applicable Privacy Impact Assessments (also known as Data Protection Impact Assessments under GDPR) for activities related to this website, and these are available upon request from the Company’s Data Protection Officer (see Section 9).
Who We Are and What We Do
We are a network of freelancers with a talent platform. We also provide the following other services: events, workshops and consultancy. We collect the personal data of the following types of people to allow us to undertake our business:

    Our legal basis for the processing of personal data is our legitimate business interests, described in more detail below, although we will also rely on contract, legal obligation and consent for specific uses of data.

    As an online talent platform, we allow freelancers and client to communicate in regards to independent professional contracts. The exchange of personal data of our candidates and our client contacts is a fundamental, essential part of this process.

    In order to support our freelancers’ career aspirations and our clients’ resourcing needs, we require a database of candidate and client personal data containing historical information as well as current resourcing requirements.

    To maintain, expand, develop our business, and deliver our ancillary services, we need to record the personal data of prospective candidates and client contacts.
    Consent
    Should we want or need to rely on consent to lawfully process your data, we will request your consent orally, by email or by an online process for the specific activity we require consent for and record your response on our system. Where consent is the lawful basis for our processing, you have the right to withdraw your consent to this particular processing at any time.

    This website, and any services available from this website, are not directed to children under the age of 13. If you learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with their personal information without having parental consent, please contact the Company’s Data Protection Officer (see Section 9) immediately so that we can take appropriate action.

    To make an informed decision on whether to provide your personal data to The Work Crowd using this website, we need to make you aware of the following organisations who act as Data Processors for us in the provision of our services to you:

    These include Mailchimp and Survey Monkey (for consented marketing communications), Intercom (for consented community support and management), Hot Jar (for monitoring user functionality) and Modina Ltd.( for financial, invoicing and payroll processing activities).

    The activities within which each of these Data Processors participates have been recorded within the applicable The Work Crowd Privacy Impact Assessment records (also known as Data Protection Impact Assessments under GDPR) and these are available upon request from the Company’s Data Protection Officer (see Section 9).
