Freelance success: Staying ahead of the social media game

Posted in Freelancer, Motivation & inspiration, Freelancer's stories, Interview,

Each month we showcase one of our freelance members from The Work Crowd community of over 1700 professional freelancers, to understand what makes them unique and how they achieve a ROI for their clients.

This month we turn the spotlight to Veronica, who has over 10 years experience as a multi-talented Fashion Marketing & Comms Consultant, Digital Strategist, Social Media Manager and Content Editor.

On the 24th of May, Veronica is joining us for the first in our series of masterclasses for the PRCA’s Independent Consultants Group. Chaired by our CEO Alice Weightman, Veronica will join speakers from H + K Strategies and Cannes Lions to discuss all things social media. As the freelance panelist in our masterclass, we thought we’d introduce her to give you all a taste of what’s to come.

How would you describe your expertise, Veronica?

With over 10 years experience, I am a well-versed fashion/lifestyle communications and marketing consultant, with experience in social media and content strategy, digital and e-mail marketing, branding, retail and e-commerce.

I work with brands to produce strong social media strategies and attractive editorial content, to establish successful online profiles and engaged communities.

I am a meticulous content crafter, with solid online experience across a number of social channels and as a bilingual writer, I have contributed to numerous print and online titles in Italy, the UK and the US.

In the spirit of our social media masterclass with the PRCA, what is a social media project that you are most proud of to date?

The biggest social media project I've managed is definitely with denim brand Wrangler. I coordinated the EMEA team remotely from London as their European HQ is in Belgium. The new Wrangler Europe profiles were only one year old, and there was a lot to do between finding the right tone of voice for our new audience and setting up an efficient workflow, so that the whole team would deliver their best work. The following grew steadily and, together with the PR team, we really helped put the brand firmly on the map in the new market.

Veronica recently won a social media project through The Work Crowd platform, to place UK social media activation for fashion brand, Eden Park, a collection of high-end sportswear for men, women and children. This project involves proposing relevant social marketing influencers, designing a monthly social media timeline and reporting on activities to monitor success.
