About the opportunity
Our client is an award winning communications consultancy advising enterprises, institutions and individuals across Europe and the Middle East. Their Healthcare Policy, Advocacy & Public Affairs team works across government relations, public affairs, market access, policy, advocacy and corporate communications, with a client base that includes major pharmaceutical companies, NHS providers, health technology businesses and charities.
They are looking for an experienced Account Director to join the team on a freelance or interim basis, leading client relationships and providing senior strategic counsel across a mix of healthcare policy and public affairs accounts.
What you will be doing
- Leading client accounts, ensuring high quality delivery, strong client satisfaction and commercial performance
- Building and leading political and NHS campaigns to deliver policy change for clients
- Leading events and stakeholder engagement programmes involving politicians, policymakers, NHS stakeholders and patient groups
- Delivering strategic intelligence and insight to clients, drawing on your own network and policy expertise
- Reviewing communications, reports and client deliverables to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships
- Contributing to new business pitches and creative strategy development
- Supporting expert steering groups to drive thought leadership for clients
- Providing guidance to junior team members
What we are looking for
- Relevant experience from a public affairs consultancy, in house public affairs department, patient group/NGO, Parliament, or similar organisation
- Strong knowledge of health policy and the ability to analyse developments within the NHS and commercial environment
- A proven track record in account management within healthcare policy, advocacy or public affairs
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams
- Strong business acumen, including experience managing budgets
- Sound strategic judgement and the ability to advise senior clients in fast-moving policy environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels
