THE CLIENT
A US kids-tech brand (a safe smartphone built for children, with no social media or addictive apps) relaunching its UK push. They launched here previously, earned good initial coverage, then went quiet. They now want an always-on UK press presence, and the timing is strong: smartphone-free childhood campaigns, school phone bans and the wider online safety debate put this space in the news most weeks. Client name shared with shortlisted candidates.
WHAT WE NEED
Consumer-first product PR, working white-labelled alongside our strategy and creative team:
- Christmas gift guides. Land the device in UK gift guides (online plus any remaining long-lead windows), across tech and parenting verticals.
- Reviewer and creator programme. Place devices with tech reviewers, parenting press and family creators, and manage loan and seeding logistics.
- New product launch. A UK launch moment for a new home device (a modern take on the landline for kids) in the autumn window.
- Always-on press office. Ongoing story pitching and newsjacking: expert comment on screen time, online safety, social media bans, back to school and similar moments. The client is quotable and quick to respond.
- Trade as a bonus. Mostly consumer, but retail and trade coverage is welcome where it supports listings.
Immediate first task (paid, 1–2 days): help us pressure-test the UK PR strategy and build realistic cost and KPI estimates, week commencing 24 August.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A senior operator (roughly 8+ years) who has run UK consumer PR for products, ideally consumer tech, kids and family brands, or both.
- A real, current book of UK contacts across consumer tech and parenting media: nationals, gift guide editors, reviewers and family creators.
- Demonstrable gift guide and product review results from the last two Christmases.
- Comfortable working solo under our direction, white-labelled within our client team.
- No current or recent work for competing kids phone, kids smartwatch or parental-control brands (we will run a conflict check).
HOW TO RESPOND
Send a short note asap with: two or three relevant results (links, ideally gift guide or product review coverage you personally landed), the sectors you cover, your day rate, and your availability October to December.
