Project Contract | Immediate Start | 3 Months (Potential Extension)
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Freelance Local Marketing Manager to join the B&M Marketing team on an immediate-start contract, supporting a programme of up to 10 new, relocated and refurbished stores over the coming months.
This is a hands-on delivery role, responsible for planning and executing local marketing campaigns that drive awareness, customer acquisition and store penetration within each local catchment.
Working closely with our internal Marketing, PR, Design and Store Development teams, alongside our Paid Media agency, you'll ensure every store launches with a locally relevant marketing plan that maximises growth while minimising cannibalisation from neighbouring B&M stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver end-to-end local marketing plans for new, relocated and refurbished stores.
- Build bespoke marketing plans based on each store's catchment, demographics and competitive landscape.
- Brief, coordinate and manage local marketing activity across multiple channels.
- Work alongside our Paid Media agency to ensure local digital campaigns are optimised for each store opening.
- Partner with the PR team to identify local storytelling and community engagement opportunities.
- Work with our Design team to develop locally relevant creative assets where required.
- Collaborate with Store Development and Operations to align marketing activity with store opening milestones.
- Identify opportunities for community partnerships, local events and grassroots marketing.
- Ensure campaigns drive new customer acquisition whilst protecting neighbouring stores from unnecessary sales cannibalisation.
- Manage campaign timelines, budgets and stakeholder communications.
- Measure campaign effectiveness and provide recommendations for continual optimisation.
- Produce post-campaign evaluations highlighting performance, learnings and future opportunities.
Experience We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has demonstrable experience delivering multi-site local marketing campaigns within a retail or consumer-facing business.

You'll be someone who can quickly embed into a busy retail marketing team, confidently take ownership of multiple local marketing projects, and hit the ground running with minimal onboarding. You'll understand how to tailor marketing activity to local audiences, balancing commercial objectives with community relevance to maximise new customer acquisition and long-term store performance.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in local marketing for national retail brands, such as supermarkets, discount retailers, home improvement, convenience, hospitality or leisure, who thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment.
