About the business
Our client is an early-stage startup operating at the intersection of beauty and consumer technology. The business is preparing to launch a consumer-facing app that enables users to:
The initial launch will be London-focused, with the immediate priority being proof of concept, consumer adoption and traction ahead of wider rollout and future brand partnerships.
The brief
The business is seeking a freelance PR, influencer and brand partnerships specialist to lead an initial communications programme that supports launch, builds awareness in London and lays the foundations for future brand, retail and media partnerships.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable working with startups, evolving propositions and realistic budgets.
Key objectives (first 3–6 months)

Drive awareness and usage of the app among London-based consumers

Build credibility within the beauty ecosystem (consumers, creators and brands)

Initiate early brand and retail partnership conversations

Establish founder visibility across beauty, transparency and technology themes

Secure consumer, trade and selected tech media coverage

Create momentum to support future fundraising and commercial partnerships
Key responsibilities

Develop and deliver a lean PR and influencer strategy focused on the London market

Secure consumer coverage across beauty, lifestyle, digital and London-focused titles

Lead founder profiling and thought leadership opportunities

Identify, engage and manage cost-effective influencers and creators

Advise on influencer seeding, partnerships and organic amplification

Support early brand and retail partnership outreach and positioning

Build visibility with beauty trade, retail and industry specialists

Identify opportunities with tech and startup media (e.g. TechCrunch-style publications)

Track performance and provide clear recommendations for scaling activity
About you

Proven experience in beauty PR, consumer tech, or adjacent sectors

Strong understanding of — and contacts within — the London beauty and media landscape

Experience working with early-stage or challenger brands

Comfortable operating across PR, influencers and brand partnerships

Confident advising founders and shaping messaging for evolving products

Commercial, creative and pragmatic in approach
Nice to have

Experience launching apps or platforms

Existing relationships with beauty brands or retailers

Knowledge of ingredients, transparency or sustainability in beauty

Exposure to international media (US or EU)
