This position contributes to the charity’s mission to protect play and improve the wellbeing of children in healthcare by influencing policy, fostering collaboration, and amplifying the voices of children, families, and healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
Meeting and Stakeholder Coordination
Plan and organise meetings for the PPA team and a range of external stakeholder groups, including large collaborative projects such as the Health Play Alliance.
Support the preparation of papers, presentations, and background materials.
Take and produce accurate, high-quality notes, track actions and outcomes, and follow up on behalf of meeting chairs.
Public Affairs Administration
Work closely with the Policy Officer to coordinate meetings with parliamentarians, government departments, and health bodies.
Share and manage relevant documentation, maintain records of engagement, and track follow-up actions.
Event Planning and Delivery
Manage the logistics and administration for parliamentary events, external roundtables, symposiums, conferences, and webinars.
Support the development of event materials and briefings.
Research and Policy Support
Conduct desk research and horizon scanning to identify relevant policy developments, legislation, and consultation opportunities.
Contribute to briefing papers, reports, news updates, and thought leadership pieces for trustees, senior leaders, and publication on digital channels.
Communications and Advocacy
Work with the Marketing and Communications team to support public engagement through the website, social media, and press opportunities.
Help to articulate and represent the organisation’s policy positions to stakeholders, including within government, Parliament, the NHS, and sector partners.
Cross-Organisational Collaboration
Collaborate across teams to ensure policy and public affairs work supports broader organisational objectives, including fundraising and service delivery.
Represent the PPA function at internal meetings such as project groups and youth panel discussions.
Monitoring and Impact Tracking
Work with the Insight & Impact (I&I) team to track PPA activities and outcomes, maintaining accurate records to evidence the impact of policy work.
Presentation and Briefing Support
Support the Policy Officer in preparing materials and gathering information for external presentations to NHS networks, Integrated Care Boards, and government departments.
Workload Management
Manage competing priorities and maintain an organised schedule in response to evolving organisational needs.
