A leading business membership organisation, representing a network of nearly 12,000 businesses across London, is looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join its Policy and Public Affairs team on a 6-month fixed term contract.
This is a hybrid role (3 days in the London office, 2 days from home, with some evening and weekend event attendance) offering £45-50k per annum pro rata, depending on experience.
About the role
You'll support the design and delivery of a high-profile Autumn engagement campaign, build and maintain political and stakeholder relationships, and represent the organisation's positions to external audiences. You'll be horizon scanning across Westminster and City Hall, maintaining relationships with political contacts and key stakeholders, and leading the Affiliate Chambers programme.
You'll also help deliver engaging public affairs events such as cross-party panels and conference events, support committee delivery, and contribute to media engagement including press and digital materials.
What you'll bring
- A strong public affairs, campaigning or political background, with a demonstrable track record of influencing policymakers across Westminster, City Hall or the wider political landscape
- Experience translating stakeholder input and case studies into compelling advocacy
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, comfortable representing the organisation at external events and with members
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Genuine enthusiasm for London's business and policy landscape
- A track record of organising public affairs events and managing multiple stakeholder relationships at once
- Experience preparing briefings for senior figures ahead of external engagements
Desirable
- Media or digital experience, with a track record of securing positive coverage or delivering digital campaigns
- An existing network of contacts across Westminster, City Hall or the wider political landscape
